MacStats: Software Running on MacTel (Intel-Based Macs)
From the general software / regression page:
Open source programs can usually be compiled on Intel-based Mac machines for native compatibility. “Universal” means the program can run as both PowerPC and native MacTel. Updated 4-14-08. Send in any updates we don't have yet!
If you need to run an older Mac stats program on a MacTel machine, and noticed that they do not support classic, try Basilisk II, which runs OS 8.1 in emulation. Or try Aabel and SSP (SSP is free).
Software shipping as a Universal Binary is in green.
- Aabel and Aabel Stats Plug-in
- ADE-4

- Citrin
- DataDesk: “The current version works in emulation mode. The new version
will run native. We expect it sometime this year [2007].” No update as of April 2008.

- Graphical Analysis: we don’t expect further Mac development.

- GraphPad and InStat
- JMP as of version 7 (verified Universal by us.)
- Kaleidagraph: promised Universal version. Company says 4.03 works fine on Rosetta but Prof. Mark Warner says it crashes his MacBook Pro frequently. May not have been tested for accuracy. No update as of 4/2008.
- Knowledgeminer
- kSpectra Toolkit
- MacANOVA: source code is available so you can compile it
- MacCurveFit: no; appears to have been abandoned in 2003.
- Mathematica
- mathStatica
- Maple
- Pro Fit: As of 6.1
- R
- Regress+: Not at this time but version 3 should work - and will be much faster than the current version
- Shazam: Universal appears to be under way. Currently incompatible with Rosetta.
- SPSS 16. A bit buggy.
- SSP: Appears to work fine under Rosetta; no information available on web site.
- Stata: starting in January 2006! How’s that for support?
- StatisticS: System 7 version still available but Universal Binary introduced in August 2007.
- StatCrunch
- Statistics101
